The McLaren Artura GT4 made a sensational debut in the British GT Championship season-opening weekend at Oulton Park on April 8/10. The car achieved an impressive 1-2-3 finish podium lockout, showcasing its remarkable performance right from the start. This follows its debut earlier this year in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge in the USA, showed its dominance on the challenging Oulton Park circuit. Optimum Motorsport’s drivers, Jack Brown and Charles Clark, both delivered exceptional laps, resulting in the Artura GT4 taking two pole positions.
In the second race, Race Lab’s Ian Gough and Tom Wrigley secured the victory, demonstrating the capabilities of the Artura GT4. They were followed closely by Optimum Motorsport’s Jack Brown and Charles Clark, who claimed second place, and DTO Motorsport’s Josh Rowledge and McLaren Academy Driver Aston Millar, who secured the third spot, completing a remarkable 1-2-3 finish.
Among the 36-car entry, McLaren showed an impressive 15-car presence entered over the weekend. In addition to the success of the Artura GT4, the McLaren 720S GT3s driven by Enduro Motorsport’s Morgan Tillbrook and Marcus Clutton, as well as Garage 59’s Alex West and McLaren Factory Driver Marvin Kirchhofer, achieved podium finishes, bringing even more triumph to the McLaren name.
The Artura GT4 shares its 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine and McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture (MCLA) chassis with the Artura road car, making it superlight and rigid for competitive performance – culminating in a supercar giving both enthusiasts and professional race mechanics drivers easy access to its potential.
